Lolis
Garcia-Baab is a talented bilingual communications
professional with vast experience in radio and
television production and broadcasting. She is the host
of the syndicated show The Ladies Room with Lolis, a
popular women’s radio talk show that airs once a week in
Austin’s TalkRadio 1370 AM and in EL Paso’s 1650 KHRO.
The Ladies Room with Lolis provides diverse programming
that is informative, entertaining and inspirational.
Guest interviews are featured in a multitude of topics,
including current affairs, education, business,
spirituality, family and fashion. The show is about
women and their varied interests in today’s fast paced
multicultural society.
Lolis was born in
Mexico City and was educated in the US. She is a
graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, with
honors degrees in Broadcast Journalism (BS) and
Political Science (BA). After college, she quickly rose
to the ranks of Executive Producer of the March of Dimes
Telethon in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, D.C. She
produced and directed several 24-hour live telethons and
created 18 separate documentaries on the work of the
March of Dimes.
Lolis is also a
distinguished business and community leader. In 1985,
she became owner and producer for the World
Entertainment Network (WEN), in Cleveland, Ohio. WEN
produced work in the entertainment, commercial and
technical fields. She wrote, produced and directed the
Cleveland Browns video "Masters of the Gridiron". The
video received extensive national air time including The
Tonight Show and MTV. During that time Lolis also
co-hosted a radio call-in music and talk show with her
husband, Longhorn and NFL-veteran Mike Baab, covering a
variety of topics, from sports to relationships.
Lolis was also the
successful partner of a weight-loss business, which she
grew from one location to nine in less than three years.
She directed the business’s marketing and advertising
programs, while producing classes on tape and video to
reach the busy working women. The exposure her
production company and weight-loss business received,
earned her a leading role on WEWS-ABC affiliate in
Cleveland, Ohio. She appeared on camera during the news
and the morning show with special interest stories on
Latin America, Europe and women’s lifestyle issues.
Lolis believes that
giving back is not only a responsibility but a
privilege. She holds that her life’s primary purpose is
to be of service to others, a value she continually
instills in her two daughters. Her involvement and
support of numerous organizations around the world are
evidence of her commitment. Lolis is a member of the
Board of Directors of Mexic-Arte Museum; The greater
Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; The Women’s
Symphony League; The Ronald McDonald House; National
Charity League; Miracle Foundation; The Nobelity
Project; The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation; Las Comadres;
and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni. She also performs several
times a year for young children at bi-lingual elementary
schools, to teach them about classical music. More
recently she helped produce “La Sinfonica de Simon”
educational CD for children. It was because women are
underserved and under-represented in radio that Lolis
launched “The Ladies Room with Lolis” in Texas, in March
2006. |
